Brief project summary:

The project was launched in response to urgent requests from the agro-food industry, which seeks rapid, reliable and inexpensive means to analyse food of animal origin. At present, no analytical approaches can entirely satisfy the manufacturers of the agrofood sector, who in addition have proved to be increasingly demanding in terms of rapidity of analysis, cost, accuracy of readings, selectivity of the substances analysed, automation for large sample sets, and particularly of diversity of the substances that can be detected simultaneously with a single sample.

The project satisfies all of these expectations and objectives. It revolves around the development of an automatic detection and analysis platform for microspheres in Flow Cytometry associated with the development of a multifunction assay kit called Multiplex. Our approach is designed in such a way that it will give enterprises of the agrofood sector a way of labelling their products "free from pathogens and/or contaminating residues". They will thus be able to justify the optimum quality of their products thanks to this labelling certified by our validated analysis.

Role of the CER:

The CER is involved in 4 work packages of the project:

  • WP1 (WP leader): Development and production of biological reference materials (immunological reagents and reference materials for the validation of the kits and the quality controls)

  • WP2: Development and delivery of a multi-analyte test to detect chemical contaminants in the meat and milk food categories

  • WP4: Development and delivery of a multi-analyte test to detect animal diseases

  • WP5: Optimisation of the technology and production of tests of interest to the market
