Residues and contaminants

For several years, the Health Department has specialised in the analysis of residues and contaminants.
Detailed scope.
These analyses are performed following accreditation according to the ISO 17025 (BELAC) standard.
The objective is to meet the requirements of the European Standard 96/23/EC which in its "Annexe 1" lists the substances to be regulated within the European Community.
These substances could be remnants of drug treatment intended for the care (antibiotics etc.), or protection of the animals, or possibly to increase their performance (hormones etc.) or may be contaminants coming from the environment (PCBs, dioxins etc.) discovered by chance in food products.
Commission Regulation no. 37/2010 of 22/12/09 relative to pharmacologically active substances and their classification regarding the maximum residue limits in foodstuffs of animal origin, together with Regulation EC 396/2005 serve to support the development of analytical methods.

Our laboratory employs efficient analytical methods that have been validated as respecting the criteria of Commission Decision 2002/657/EC and of the SANCO 12495/2011 document.
